Coming to Quang Ninh, tourists not only see the beauty of Halong bay or Yen Tu sacred land but also enjoy many famous delicious dishes in here.
Sa sung or Sai sung, is the specialty of Minh Chau beach, Quan Lan. At first glance, it looks very ugly. It looks like the pink worms, but this is an expensive raw material for delicious and nutritious foods. Sa sung can be processed while it is still fresh or dried, both of which are very attractive.
Another speciality of Halong is Sam. Sam is an arthropod crustacean which always lives in pairs. Sam is cooked into a lot of good and unique dishes such as: Sam blood pudding (Tiet canh sam), sam salad (Goi sam), sweet and sour sam leg (chan sam xao chuan got), sam fried with lemon grass (sam xao sa ot), fried sam egg, steamed sam or fried sam… All dishes above are very attractive.
Ngan is mollusks like Ngao, but has attractive special sweetness. Dishes from Ngan are very common at restaurants in Halong. It can be processed into many dishes such as grilled ngan, steamed ngan, porridge ngan or fried with noodles or vegetables.
Squid rolls (Cha muc) appears in many coastal provinces, but the most special flavor to the squid rolls is in Quang Ninh. It is the fresh squid caught directly in the sea area of Halong and then is pounded by hand that makes the speciality of Quang Ninh’s squid rolls.
The squid is very fresh, so it is very delicious and smelling. Cha muc is most delicious when it is combinated with sticky rice (Xoi trang). In addition, Cha muc is also eaten with rice or steam rice.
